Intro/About The Project
True Connection Electrical, a leading electrical service provider in ACT, recently completed an outdoor entertainment and security lighting installation project for a client in Nicholls, ACT. The project involved installing LED downlights, outdoor lighting, security lighting, motion sensor lights and upgrading the lighting system. In this project, True Connection Electrical provided a long-term, user-friendly solution that ensured the customer’s confidence in the quality of services provided.
The Objective
The objective of this project was to provide a high-quality outdoor entertainment and security lighting solution that would meet the client’s specific needs. Our client, Brodie Korman, wanted to install additional LED downlights throughout the eaves of his house to provide light for outdoor entertainment areas and general security lighting. He also wanted sensor spotlights installed at key access points to the house and yard to deter potential intruders.
The Challenges
Difficult Roof Access
The project site had certain areas of the roof that were challenging to access, such as high or hard-to-reach spots. This made it challenging for the team to install the lighting fixtures in these areas.
Cutting Downlight Holes in Older Eaves
Installing the downlights in older eaves presented a challenge, as cutting holes in these structures required careful planning and execution. The older eaves were more brittle and fragile, making it necessary to exercise caution to avoid causing any damage or cracking to the surrounding material.
Key Steps Taken by True Connection Electrical
Designing Lighting for Key Areas
To ensure a successful lighting installation, the team identified the key areas that required lighting and designed a suitable amount of lighting for the entertainment area. The design was tailored to meet the client’s specific needs and requirements.
Selecting Appropriate Lighting Fixtures
The team selected appropriately rated sensor lights to withstand the weather conditions and provide an abundance of light. The selection was based on factors such as durability, efficiency and effectiveness. The fixtures were chosen to provide optimal lighting in the designated areas.
Using Durable LED Downlights
To ensure a long-lasting lighting solution, LED downlights with 7-year warranties were used. This provided the client with a durable and reliable lighting system that required minimal maintenance. The lights were also easy to use, providing a user-friendly experience.
Exercising Caution During Installation
Cutting downlight holes in older eaves required caution to avoid cracking and damage to the surrounding material. The team exercised great care while cutting the holes, ensuring that the older eaves were not damaged or compromised during the process.
Successful Completion of the Project
Despite the challenges faced, the project was completed successfully within two days. The client was satisfied with the final outcome and the lighting installation exceeded their expectations.
Final Thoughts/Results
This project was a success, with the company delivering high quality, long term solutions that met the unique needs of our client. However, if we could start this project from the beginning, we would have allowed slightly more time to complete it. We had to come back a second day to finish some loose ends, which could have been avoided with better time management.
Despite these challenges, we are proud of the successful completion of the project. It has met the requirements of the client with the house presenting extremely well at night time and the client feeling safer with the new lighting system. The client can now better utilise their outdoor area which has added significant value to their property.
We also established a great relationship with our client, Brodie, who has already become our repeat customer, which demonstrates our commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship and customer service.
